At present, there are thousands of kilometers in the world, dozens of high-voltage DC lines adopt high-voltage DC plastic cable, and the operation condition is very good." On April 8, Jiang Pingkai, director of the electrical materials and insulation research center of Shanghai Jiaotong University, said at the 2019 China International Smart Grid Forum.
Compared with the traditional oil paper cable, the plastic DC high-voltage cable has the following advantages: it can bear higher conductor temperature under rated power; the cable is lighter and less moisture; the cable connection is easier and simpler; the impact of the leakage of insulating oil on the environment is avoided.
He also compared plastic cable with rubber cable: EPR (ethylene propylene rubber) cable and XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) cable have been used for 30 years, EPR is softer than XLPE, more resistant to water trees, ozone, etc., but the formula has more ingredients, so the voltage is not as high as XLPE, and the price is high, so there are disadvantages.
He pointed out that at present, there are thousands of kilometers in the world, dozens of high-voltage DC lines adopt high-voltage DC plastic cables, and the operation condition is very good. Among them, Japan's high-voltage DC nanocomposite cable has developed to ± 500kV. At the same time, through long-term test, it has been proved that it can be applied in practice and has enough long-term reliability.
He firmly believes that high voltage DC plastic cable will become an important equipment for green energy transmission and distribution of smart grid in the future, which should be paid more attention in China.
2019 China International Smart Grid Forum was held in Shanghai New International Expo Center. The forum is co sponsored by Shanghai Institute of electrical engineering, Shanghai Institute of electrical technology, Shanghai Electrical Industry Association and new China trade Derui Exhibition (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
